Full Social.Steam icon set
I finished my set of 30 hand-drawn social networking icons:
You are free to use these however you’d like. It would be cool if you could show me where you used them, but it’s alright (I guess) if you just don’t want to for no good reason. Let me know if you’d like one that isn’t here.

My Top 5 Albums of 2009
Since year-end lists are pouring in from all corners of the world, I thought I’d share my inconsequential take on the best albums of the year. Here they are:
1. The Dirty Projectors- Bitte Orca
I’m going to have to take credit here for making this album possible. When Dave and Amber came into the coffee shop where I work during long, grueling recording sessions down the street, I would carefully handcraft their americanos for optimal creative output. Sometimes, I would even give them an americano for FREE (please don’t fire me, Jack…). I am pretty sure this record would not have been made without me.

2. Jay-Z- The Blueprint 3
Shortly after hearing samples of this record on a podcast, I raced to Best Buy to grab a copy. Priced at $13, I thought it was a good deal for a new CD. Upon checking out, I was surprised to be charged a mere ten dollars! Such is my reward. This marks the first time I had purchased a new rap album, and the first time I had bought anything from Best Buy without a gift card.
3.
Oh wait, I’ve only heard two albums from 2009. If I were to guess which other albums would make this list, I would go with the Built to Spill one, the one from Norfolk and Western, and um… The Grizzly Bears. People like them, right? Cool people? Oh maybe Girls… people will know how cool I am if I talk about them.
So there you have it, my Top Five Favorite Albums of 2009. I hope you feel smarter.

items of importance for dec. 5th

I almost got killed by a drunk(?) driver today, but that doesn’t measure up to the other news of the day:
Item 1: During a boxed-wine run at Rite-Aid with Mrr Grr on Friday, I discovered Cadbury Mini-eggs for sale on a display at the front of the store. WHAT?! WHY?!? YESSSSS! It seems someone misfired on the shipment of some holiday-inappropriate merchandise, much to my excitement. Well, excitement is too mild a word; perhaps ‘outright unadulterated joy’ is more appropriate. This is my favorite candy of the world, and I couldn’t be happier to find it anywhere outside of mid-March-to-early-May. Best Xmas surprise ever.
Item 2: Today is our studio’s ‘Legend of Webcomics’ open house at Dunning-Kruger Solutions:

These are the Orcaskine books, hand-made orcas from Emily and Breatharian copies I will be offering up for sale. You can’t get this Orcaskine stuff anywhere else unless you’re REAL special, so come out. Even if you don’t need to buy stuff, it will be good to hang out and maybe meet some new people. I’ll also do sketches and make free stickers if anyone wants.
I have also decided to host a photo ‘booth’ where I will take terrible, creepy winter-formal type photographs of anyone who wants one! They’ll get posted to the Flickr along with your names and some cheesy graphics pasted over the top. It will be fun! Honest!
Item 3: When I said last post I would have 3 new comics up by Friday, I meant Saturday, and when I said ‘by’ I meant ‘on’ and by ‘have’ I meant ‘make.’ Basically what I meant to say was, I’m gonna be making the new comics during the open house, so obviously they won’t be up til later than that. Although I did already post a new Orcaskine, so I guess I just can’t make up my mind.
See you later, maybe?

we did it!
BREAKING NEWS:
I have once again touched pen to paper! Just to see what it feels like. Nothing has actually been created save this quick sketch, but it looks like I’m taking ICTMA (My journal comic [I Can’t Take Me Anywhere]) in a slightly different stylistic direction. I like what’s happened, and I hope you will too when I get around to making a real-life comic again.
Oh, speaking of which, I am making new comics this week. By Friday, mark my words, there will be a new ICTMA, Orcaskine AND Baristocracy. Then probably about three months of hiatus, as is usually the case.
KIDDING! Mostly. Well, I guess we’ll see.

Studio Open House
The studio I share with Aaron Diaz, Meredith Gran and this dude Spencer is having an open house this Saturday, December 5th. While I’m not quite the big-name comics-person that they are, I’m still going to be hanging around being a nuisance. I will also be attempting to sell some physical goods. Those goods include and are limited to:
Volumes 1-6 of my comic Orcaskine, which are unavailable elsewhere. 6 books of 25 strips and bonus materials, printed in-house and hand assembled for $5 each or $20 for the whole lot. Super classy.
Friggin handmade crocheted orcas! Just like that one I posted about below, they’ll probably be $20 and in very limited supply. Total collector’s item, and I know there’re a few of you out there.
Bognor CDs. Duh.
And that’ll be all, unless I can wrangle some INTERNET shirts at the last minute. I could probably print some comics too or, god forbid, do sketches if you want! Everyone’s invited. Here’s the specs:

Hope to see you here!
